I’ve not tried switching suppliers before, how long will it take?

It can be as quick as three days. However, in most cases there are complications which mean it takes longer. If you decide to switch to Champion Energy, we’ll look at the specifics of your business and provide an accurate estimate for how long it will take.

What information should I provide?

We’ll ask all of the key details over the phone if you decide to switch to us. To get started, all we’ll need is your business’ name and address. We can use this information to get you a quote, although it won’t be as accurate as possible.

To get the most accurate estimate quote possible, you can give us some information about your usage which can be found on a bill from your current supplier. Look for your:

  • Current supplier’s name
  • Tariff name and contract end date
  • How much electricity your business uses
  • Your meter number

When you start a quote, the more accurate you can be, the better, because it means we can tailor the offer to fit your exact needs.

How do I switch suppliers to Champion Energy?

Moving your electricity to Champion Energy from another supplier is very simple. Just contact us on 0330 113 4779 for a quote. Once you’ve agreed a contract with us, we’ll do all the work with your existing supplier to switch your account over.

How Does The Switching Process Work?

When you have accepted our quote and contract terms we’ll contact your current supplier to inform them that we will be taking over your supply.

On the final day with your existing supplier, you just need to provide up to date meter readings. This is needed for your existing supplier to close your old account and for Champion Energy to set up your new one properly.

What if I change my mind?

Suppliers are not obligated to include a ‘cooling off’ period in their business energy contracts. So when you’re purchasing business energy it’s imperative to ensure you fully understand the terms and conditions before signing up for anything.

This industry norm is because suppliers forecast and buy the energy they supply to businesses based on the customer's unique characteristics. As a result suppliers can incur significant cost at the point of contract agreement that needs to be recovered with certainty.

If you would like to back out of a contract with Champion Energy before the agreed supply start date then do not hesitate to contact us. Please note, in these situations, we reserve the right to make a small charge.

I’ve just moved into new business premises. Can Champion Energy supply my new address?

We’ll be happy to supply your new premises. Take a meter reading and call us on 0330 113 4779 to speak to a representative at or contact centre about a contract that suits your new business arrangements.

How long will it take for the move to be processed?

Switching over to a new supplier can take up to 30 days dependent on the submission and confirmation of required legal documents. (Contracts, Terms and Conditions, Tenancy Agreements). If the correct documents have not been supplied in time, this could cause a delay in processing your move.

When would I expect my final bill?

Receipt of your final bill depends mainly on when a change of ownership was processed, but in most cases, your final bill will be sent out the following month.

What should I do if I move out of premises supplied by Champion Energy?

If you are moving into or out of premises supplied by Champion Energy, please notify us with the provision of at least 30 days’ notice in order for an accurate final bill can be generated. The is will ensure you won’t end up paying for energy not used by your business. To process this change, simply submit a ’30 day notice’ form to us, and provide us one of the following legal documents:

  • Solicitor’s letter giving details of the move
  • Deed of Surrender signed by both parties
  • Lease agreement
  • A certified copy of the tenancy agreement; or
  • A completed TR1 (Land Registry transfer of whole registered title)

If you are moving into premises supplied by Champion Energy, a deemed rate will apply, this is generally higher than fixed supply agreements. Call our contact centre on 0330 113 4779 and speak with one of our representatives to discuss a contract to suit your new arrangements.
