You won’t have to submit meter readings yourself or wait for someone else to come and take them. But with consistent and automated meter reads, you can be sure your bills reflect your consumption.
To make sure every home and business benefits from smart meters, there’s a framework for the smart meter rollout. It sets binding annual installation targets for every supplier and will run until the end of 2025. The framework is set by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and regulated by Ofgem, the energy regulator.
Champion Energy has delayed its smart meter roll out to later in 2023. Targets and performance are summarised in the table below. All figures relate to credit mode electricity meters for businesses.
